Just about everyone with a cat or dog has experienced a flea infestation at some point and it can be quite annoying. Fleas rapidly get out of hand because they reproduce very quickly which can result in an infestation. The first thing that you should do when trying to address a flea problem is to look at your pets. If your pet has fleas, your home has fleas. If your pet is flea free you could have rodents or any other animals living underneath your home, causing the infestation. No matter the cause, living with fleas is a nightmare! Many people try over-the-counter products to exterminate the fleas on their own. Unfortunately, products like foggers will drive the fleas deep into the walls and furniture where they’ll continue to reproduce and then reinvade. Read other ideas for getting rid of a flea infestation below.

If you fail to eliminate the fleas in time, they will literally take over your home and make your life a living hell. When your body starts itching, you know it’s too late. Luckily there are products that can be used indoors to exterminate the fleas. These products include flea spray with IGR, flea bombs (or foggers) and flea traps. The best solution depends on the individual situation. If you have a lot of fleas, then flea bombs are a great way to reduce their numbers quickly. You can stick to the spray and/or traps if the situation is somewhat controlled.

If you want to take a more natural approach, then the vacuum cleaner is your best friend. Vacuum daily and focus on carpets, furniture and other places where your pets often stay. You should get rid of the vacuum bag afterwards, so the fleas don’t return. You should start to see results after a few weeks, but some people struggle with severe flea infestations for months, so please be patient even though it’s very frustrating.

As a last resort, you can call a professional flea exterminator. They will get rid of the flea infestation as quick and painless as possible. This will let you get back to your normal life without the worries and irritation that follows with flea bites.
